Is it an Emergency?

The new The Pigeon Detectives second album Emergency has now been out for one good months time. I must say that I like the second one even more than their debut. They played one or two songs from the album at their concert here in Munich (April) and I liked them from the moment they started playing. I can't find one song on the album which I don't like and according to me every one of them could be a hit single. Some may think that that is not always just positive, because it is true that alot of the songs sound similar to each other and that their isn't that much diversity on the record (one "ballad"). But I like it that way. You can just press play and listen through the entire album without pressing forward. There is also a certain vibe of maturity in the music. They have gotten older and aren't just writing texts for 18-year olds anymore. Anyway, I've chosen four songs for you to listen at, including their single "This Is An Emergency".

rhythm of the movement of the feel of the wheel of the

Now, with the release (25.04.08) of their album Flight Of The Conchords and their Grammy Award, the media in Germany are starting to notice the funny New Zealand duo Flight of the Conchords. Their Music is best enjoyed by looking at the video because most of the songs originate from their TV-Series from 2007.

I just love their sense of humor and have known about them for 6 months or so. I'm actually starting to think that germans just don't get that type of humor or they just lack in english knowledgement and that's why almost no one here has heard of Flight of the Conchords...or I don't know.
Back to the music. My favourite song/video/sketch got to be "Mutha'uckers". Makes me laugh every time :) Although the classic "Business Time" is great too.

Birthday

I gave my mother a CD with these songs for her birthday this year. It's is so hard to know what she likes in music, because most of the things I listen to is either "to loud", "to fast", "to slow" or it's making her "feel stressed". So I really tried to put these kind of low-beat and relaxing songs together with the intention that she can use it as background music when shes working on the computer or when she just wants to turn down a bit. Some of the songs she really liked, and some needed a couple of times of listening, she said. So here it is:
